Short-Circuit Evaluation

Short-circuit analysis determines the magnitude of the maximum fault-current an equipment may experience during a fault event. The maximum available fault-current is evaluated against the withstand rating of the equipment. This determines equipment short-circuit adequacy. NEC110.9 and NEC110.10 require that electrical equipment and protective devices are rated at nominal circuit voltage to withstand the available fault current at the line terminals of the equipment.

Protective Devices Coordination

Time-Current Curves (TCCs) are used to demonstrate the level of coordination present between protective devices that are part of the same circuit. TCCs are used to set adjustable breakers to the best possible coordination levels while accounting for equipment, including cables and transformers, and qualified personnel protection. They are also used to confirm that thermal magnetic breakers with limited or no adjustability provide appropriate coordination and protection.

Arc Flash Analysis

Arc flash calculations are performed to warn qualified individuals of the potential and magnitude of arc flash hazards at equipment that may require examination, adjustment, servicing, or maintenance while energized in an electrical system .

Arc Flash Labels

Custom labels are provided and installed to warn qualified individuals of the potential and magnitude of arc flash hazards at a specific piece of equipment.

Arc Flash Training

RT Engineers offers both in-person and virtual arc flash training. This program educates participants on the causes of arc flash events and the associated hazards. Additionally, the training instructs employees on how to read and interpret arc flash labels effectively.

Additional Analysis Services

RT Engineers offers harmonics, voltage drop and motor starting analyses.
